Love

Updated: Feb 5, 2021

February is all about love, specifically romantic love. In more recent years, it's acceptable for friends to celebrate together and honor the joy these people bring into our life. This year, take a minute to honor "self-love." Because so many of us have experienced a loss of normalcy and routine, jobs and relationships, and sadly for some, the loss of friends and loved ones over this past year. And we are still here. We made it. So celebrate loving yourself.

"Love and belonging are essential to the human experience...It's as simple and as complicated as this: If we want to fully experience love and belonging, we must believe that we are worthy of love and belonging." Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection

"Self-love" is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological, and spiritual growth.

Powerful.

Here are some of actions I've been taking that support my self-love:

  1. Exercising at least 30 minutes every day.

  2. Meditate for at least 10 minutes a day.

  3. Journal my emotions.

  4. Speak to my inner child.

"Self-love means accepting yourself as you are in this very moment for everything that you are. It means accepting your emotions for what they are and putting your physical, emotional and mental well-being first." Brain and Behavior Research Foundation
